Shot Notes

Happy New Year 2015. This is the sixth New Year Post on this blog. We normally find ourselves at fireworks displays or remote gigs in Australia. This year we were on the road and saw an event offering free camping so we spent new year at the Captain Creek Community Sport & Rec Club. This is Tiny Teddy of JD & the Express who along with Fire Dancers and Tribal Drums kept us entertained until the small hours. The area feels unspoiled by modern progress. I found blank VHS tapes for sale in a local shop.

I’m impressed with the detail in that shot which I assume was done without flash? Do you need a tripod to get the detail on a relatively slow shutter?

    BTW Happy New Year ;-)

No Flash, High ISO (6400) and a decent image stabilized lens so I can get away with 1/40 sec at 135mm. Tripods generally work best with stationary objects and I find them a hindrance in gig situations.

    and Happy New Year ;-)
