I have been reading a lot about doctored photos recently so I thought it was about time I threw in my 2 cents. When faced with examples such as multiplying missiles I think we can agree the line between right and wrong has been jumped over. However, even without the clone tool, pictures can be developed is such a way to draw attention to a particular detail. Is that equally wrong? From the moment a photographer frames up a picture he is influencing the message and not giving the viewer the full picture. For my part I am not faced with such moral dilemmas after I read all the best stock photos are altered in some way. The industry seems to expect it. In fact messing around with pictures is one of the thing which drew me to photography as I remember how much satisfaction I used to get from designing flyer's and magazine pages 10 years ago. The example above is the most I have used the clone tool in a stock photo. In this case I removed the Austrian names to make the picture more generic and useful to designers.
