Venus Bay

This is Venus Bay on the Eyre Peninsula, in South Australia. It is a small pretty seaside holiday town with an impressive curved jetty which was popular with fishing. Heading south is a wonderful coastline of craggy cliffs where Eagles and Osprey Nest.

Casino Monorail

On Friday night I visited the Jupiter casino next to the Nerang river on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. This monorail connects the casino, hotel and shopping centre. Another light rail service has recently started connecting Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise and Southport.

Old Mine

Earlier this year we were exploring the gold towns of New South Wales. This “Old Mine” was part of a museum in the back of the tourist information centre in Cobar.

Photoshop and Fractalius were used to process the image.

Radio Telescopes

This is the Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory. The telescopes move along rail track which used to take trains between Cambridge and Bedford.

Tomorrow we hit the road to Grantham, to continue our tour of the UK before we fly back to Australia next month.

Central Station

This is Central Station in Sydney. It is the largest train station in Australia. It started life as one wooden platform in a corrugated metal shed and is now one of the most impressive structures in Sydney alongside the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

Since arriving a week ago I have been busy doing freelance Photography for ANCR. Yesterday I started shooting the redevelopment of the Royal Randwick Racecourse in the south-east of the city. After the shoot I decided to walk back to our base in North Sydney to get an appreciation of the scope of the city. Today I will be mainly letting my feet recover.

Journey Begins

We hit the road today. We have a few stops in the UK before we fly to Australia on Thursday. We should be landing in Sydney on Friday evening. After arriving I will be able to post some new shots but for now I will use these road trains I shot last year as we crossed the Nullabor in Western Australia.

To develop this image the blue and green were desaturated in Camera RAW leaving a red spot colour.

Model Melbourne

This shows Flinders Street Station, St Pauls Cathedral and Federation Square in central Melbourne. This shot was taken from the Eureka Skydeck which is Australia‘s tallest building. I used tilt shift to create the miniature effect. We are leaving Melbourne in one week and heading towards Sydney where we are looking forward to meeting up with some friends and family.
