I saw these two swans on the river cam in front of Baits Bite Lock in the UK. You don’t often get fog in Australia (maybe in a Melbourne winter) so I was keen to go for a walk to capture the effect of the light.

South Steyne

This is the South Steyne Floating Restaurant in Darling Harbour, New South Wales. We went to the Sydney Tower today, where the view of this ship and the city are fantastic.

I used Tilt-Shift to create the miniature effect on this former ferry.

We are flying back to the UK tomorrow and will return to Australia in April

New Year

For those of you still in 2013 Happy New Year 2014 from Australia. I took this shot of the New Year Sydney Fireworks from the tip of Cremorne Point. We had a clear 180 degree view of all 6 floating launch points plus the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. The only drawback to our location was a rising tide which temporarily blocked our way out. We both had a great time and wish you the best for the New Year.

Brisbane Fireworks

These fireworks were part of the Brisbane Festival in September. It must be said that in Australia they like them big. I have photographed many displays in the UK after having early success selling this image on stock sites. I used the same settings 4sec, f11, iso100 which seems to get good results.

Our van has a new clutch after giving up on Springbrook mountain and we looking forward to seeing the Sydney fireworks at New Year.

Vivid Sydney

Last night we explored the Vivid Sydney Festival which runs from 6pm to midnight from 24th May to 10th June. There are dozens of different light displays and a free ferry which can take you to the various spots around the city. The Sydney Harbour Bridge was lit up with 100,000 individually programmable LED lights which were controlled by members of the public via a touch screen in Luna Park. Since returning to Australia 3 weeks ago I have been so busy with freelance photography this is the first time I have been out shooting for fun.

I have entered this image to the Adventure Tours Photography Competition.

These buildings are in the centre of Ballarat in the Goldfields of Victoria in Australia.

Canberra Skyline

No sooner than we crossed from Victoria into New South Wales we found ourselves in Australian Capital Territory. The home of Canberra and the seat of Australian Government. Canberra is an entirely planned city with the feeling of a university campus. The Parliament House in the centre is a low rise structure described by some as resembling a bunker covered with grass. In fact anyone can have a picnic on the roof. This image is one of a series of Australian Skylines which may become a calender someday.

New Stonehenge

This is the Esperance Stonehenge in Western Australia which is a full size replica of the Old Stonehenge. I am posting this now for no better reason that we watched a TV program tonight on stonehenge and it reminded me I had not got round to posting it yet.

Yarra River

This is the Yarra River as it flows north-west towards central Melbourne. It is 242km long and its surrounding area is believed to have been inhabited by Indigenous Australians for at least 30,000 years.
