Perth Chogm

This image of Perth in Western Australia shows the preparations for the 2011 CHOGM(Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting) and a giant public barbecue hosted by the Queen.

This could be a contender for the Australian Skylines Calendar.

Perth Museum

This building is the Perth Museum in Western Australia. To process this image in increased the saturation of the purples slightly. I also increased the luminance of the reds to lighten the dark wood.

Snettisham Torc

This is the Snettisham Great Torc. Apparently the most famous object from Prehistoric Britain. We were surprised to find it in Perths Museum today. Even more surprised to find the British Museum had also exported their gift shop along with their touring exhibition. At lease it was nice to find some extra exhibits. When we visited Cairo Museum in Egypt a few years ago we found Tutankhamen was on tour in the UK.

In more recent news. We have just bought a 1987 Toyota Hiace Campervan. We will be leaving Perth tomorrow morning to begin our own tour of Australia.

Swan Barracks

This is the Old Swan Barracks in Perth, Western Australia. It has been our home for the last two weeks while we look for a campervan to start our tour of Australia. As you can see from this image The Swan has been a host for temporary residents for over 100 years. Some may say little has changed but what can you expect from a backpackers in the most remote city on the planet. We are revisiting the Fremantle car market on Saturday and viewing a nice ’87 Sunliner on Sunday. With a bit of luck we should be hitting the road on Monday.

Perth Skyline

This shot of the Perth Skyline was taken at the end of our first day in Western Australia. The 30 hour journey to Australia via Singapore went fairly smoothly with the exception of Heathrow security who almost caused us to miss our first flight by holding us up when they discovered the metal in Karen’s leg and then swabbing my phone for explosives. It was raining when we arrived at 1am but it had all cleared by the following morning. At this point I would normally go into the all details of how this image was shot and processed however while we are travelling this Photoblog will be more of a Travel Journal like the Egypt Blog rather than A Photoshop tricks and tips study. If any regular readers wish to know how images were created please leave a comment and I will be more than happy to go into the details and the Photoshop layers used.
