Cedar Getters

This engraving was carved into the rock by ‘cedar-getters‘ in 1886. Australian red cedar trees were so valuable that they kick-started a timber industry, in what is now the Border Ranges National Park in New South Wales.

Esperance Stonehenge

This is a full size granite replica of Stonehenge in Western Australia. Although it is not as old as the original Stonehenge in the UK, it is complete, and access is better. When we visited the owners let us stay in our van overnight so I could easily photograph it at sunset and sunrise. I experienced an unexpected sense of awe as the sun light filled the stones.

Pyramid Wall

This is the great Pyramid on the edge of Cairo in Egypt. I was trying to use the wall to lead the eye and give a sense of scale.

It has been a busy week. We have both been working in the day and moving furniture in the evenings. Tomorrow we hope to collect our fridge which should be the last big thing to move in to our new house. I will then give our van a well deserved oil change and service.

Desert Sculptures

This is one of the sandstone sculptures in the Living Desert Reserve north of Broken Hill.

There is so much to see here we have decided to stay an extra day before heading to Cobar to get some mining photography for stock.

Natural Bridge

This is Natural Bridge in Queensland, Australia. It was created by Cave Creek which is a tributary of the Nerang River. The waterfall is surrounded by subtropical rain-forest in the Numinbah Valley. It is home to a colony of glow worms. As it is only 1hr from Southport we made it a day trip so missed the night lights.

New Territory

These are the Mystery Craters of Queensland, Australia. They are made of a mix of red ochre and yellow sandstone which extends down at least 600m. Geologists are still unsure how they have been created. What do you think?

We are currently in Canungra watching barrel racing which is being held at the showground where we are camped. Tomorrow I go to Southport to start a new job with Panedia as a Photographer / Retoucher / Geek. It is a small company so I imagine I will be doing a bit of everything.

Ellenborough Falls

This is the foot of Ellenborough Falls which is a horsetail waterfall on the headwaters of the Ellenborough River in the mid north Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. We camped in the Ellenborough Reserve last night then drove into Wauchope Library to do some job searches this morning. We were glad to discover we have been offered some work at the Woolshed Backpackers in Hervey Bay. Jason will take some Photography for their website and Karen will generally help out. We will need to put our foot down to cover the 854km (530 miles) by Friday. Until now we have taken a fairly slow route opting for tourist drives and some dirt roads. We will need to stick to the Pacific Highway to get there in time. Our address will be The Woolshed Backpackers, 181 Torquay Road, Hervey Bay, Queensland 4655 until July 3rd.

Stone Heads

This was taken on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. It is one of the tourist drives you can take along the coast. The road was punctuated with bits of artwork like this.

New Stonehenge

This is the Esperance Stonehenge in Western Australia which is a full size replica of the Old Stonehenge. I am posting this now for no better reason that we watched a TV program tonight on stonehenge and it reminded me I had not got round to posting it yet.
